Momma/son time

On Thursday Grandma watched Rileigh while Landon and I went on a little excursion. Nana normally cuts his hair but since I'm on maternity leave we haven't seen her on a daily basis. Landon looked rather scruffy and with those cowlick's of his, he really looked like a hooligan. So, we went to the hair salon on the mall and got a nifty buzz cut. Then we walked by Ho Ho, that would be Santa Claus, and waved to him since we already sat on his lap and told him what we wanted for Christmas. We got a gift card for one of the cousins while we were in the mall too.

Then we drove to Old Town Portsmouth to see the big boats. There's an aircraft carrier docked down there. I don't think it's actually operational but it appears they use it for training purposes. There was an airplane on the flight deck and a big crane moving stuff around up there too. We watched that for awhile. We walked down the seawall to a marina and looked at some seriously fancy, expensive yachts. We watched a tugboat push two old Navy boats down the water. We watched the paddle boat ferry a few times making its run from Norfolk to Portsmouth and back. Next time, we'll take a ride on it.

In between all of these boat sightings we filled Landon's pockets with little acorns from under the trees lining the seawall. Acorns, mulch, leaves, rocks, and other bits of nature went into Landon's pocket. All of those things are still sitting in the kitchen in one of his little kitchen pots! We're going to glue them to paper later.

We decided it was time to head home. Landon was saying he wanted something but I couldn't understand him so I just started saying words and when I said, "Cheeseburger," he said, "Alright!" So I stopped at McDonald's and got him a happy meal which he chomped right down. On the drive back to Smithfield he said he wanted to go to the park so we did. We played on the slides and swung really high. Landon climbed onto the horse and the frog all by himself for the first time. He's getting so big.

He is a big boy for two years old. I think people always think he is older. He is taller than his three old cousin and almost taller than his 5 year old cousin!

Anyway, we had a fun day and he was so well behaved, no sign of the terrible twos in sight. Today it's raining. Ho Ho was supposed to drive around our neighborhood on a firetruck. 2:30 is the time he's to hit our street but I don't know if that will happen with all of the rain. We were also going to go buy a little tree to put up in his room but again, don't know with so much rain! It makes it really unpleasant to go out. We'll see. If it would turn to snow the storms would probably close! People are so silly down here when it snows!
